Time Wears a Disguise
A caterpillar warily creeping
seems slow to me.
I follow it with my eyes,
Tire of its steady journey.
I no longer watch and wait—
It has become a russet Monarch
which glides past me
with a jerky and uneven pace.
I try to anticipate its unknown path
but don’t know where it has gone.
