Your Words Have Brought Me Peace
that words could bring the damage
they often do.
Sticks and Stones May Break my Bones,
But Words Will Never Hurt Me
is just not true.
It would be nice if it were.
Holding onto words
until we are sure of them
unfortunately is not a talent possessed by all.
But you.
Your words.
Your deliberation.
Your kindness
is inordinately important to me.
You are a stranger.
Yet my troubled mind
rubs your words on my wound
like a salve.
They have saved me.
You have saved me.
Your words have brought me peace
and provided the comfort
I need to go on
in this moment.
